Description
The presentation will discuss the expansion of an existing system designed and built by another Operator, while delving into the complexities inherent in a system with historic integrity and flow assurance issues. We will discuss the challenges and methods utilized to maintain the existing system integrity during the pre-commissioning and commissioning of Nearly Headless Nick. The discussion will include unique challenges due to thermal expansion and walking of the pipeline and will touch on how Murphy adopted a different approach from the previous operator. We will share lessons learned on what Murphy would have done differently, had we started with a blank slate, and what aspects Murphy may implement in our program in the future. Finally, I will give a status update on the project; both how it is performing and how we completed the project with regards to a schedule and cost estimate inherited with the project.
