Description

The Caesar Tonga field is an existing tieback to the Constitution Spar in the Green Canyon block of the Gulf of Mexico. Initial production was reached in 2012. Due to great well performance, the field was constrained by the existing subsea flowline system. Due to weight constraints at Constitution, a third flowline and riser solution was not feasible. Oxy, along with Trendsetter, developed a piggable three flowline, two riser solution to address the subsea bottleneck. This solution required the qualification of a 15ksi deepwater pig diverter assembly and the development of a new dual diameter intelligent pig with Quest Integrity. Special care was taken during the flushing and commissioning of the existing flowline system to avoid potential Microbial Induced Corrosion (MIC) concerns. A unique approach to the infield umbilical commissioning was utilized to perform all post installation testing subsea to minimize POB at Constitution. The unique design also required a thorough flow assurance review to address the high rates in the risers and potential low/no flow conditions in the flowline system.
