Description

La Femme is a Beacon Offshore operated subsea tie-back to Delta House FPS in 4,350ft of water depth. As the field progressed in its life cycle, production rates decreased and slugging in the riser became an operational challenge. An in-riser gas lift concept was high graded as the best solution to arrest production decline and mitigate slugging. The project was divided into two phases, first of which was the installation of a velocity string completed in May 2022. Phase 2 of the project will be executed at a future date and, with a small topsides construction scope, will convert the velocity string into a in-riser gas lift string. The SCR hang-off is 50’ below mean water level and connected to the topsides equipment by 300ft of hull piping that spans the FPS pontoon and hull column. Direct vertical access to the SCR for conventional steel coiled tubing installation would be extremely challenging and would require underwater construction which adds HSE risk to the project. By leveraging the capabilities of Flexi-Coil, Beacon executed the installation without any underwater construction, which decreased project risk, cost and timeline. Flexi-Coil was successfully inserted into a horizontal tubing hanger installed on the lower deck of the facility, traversed the 300ft of hull piping (totaling 520 degrees of bends) and was paid out to 4300ft MD within the SCR.
